DIAGONALE 2015

Filmstill by Virgil Widrich Main Sujet of the Diagonale 2015

After regretting SO much that i was not able to attend last years DIAGONALE in Graz i am stoked about going this year!
My favorite (Austrian) Filmfestival will take place from the 17th of March to the 22nd.

This years festival edition for the last time under direction of Ms. Barbara Pichler promises a variation and some extraordinary surprises. (if one can trust the official press release)
When recently enjoyed his moderation a lot at the Austrian Movie Awards at the Rathaus i am sure will do so again with his new motion picture which will star as opening film this year.

Karl Markovics SUPERWELT.

The Diagonale is conceived as a forum for the presentation and discussion of Austrian cinematic production.

The goal and task of the Diagonale is a nuanced, multifaceted and critical exploration of Austrian cinema as well as drawing the industry into the media spotlight and thereby into public discourse.

Accordingly, it is the filmmakers and their works that lie at the heart of the festival, which, by means of a tailored program selection, offers the rare opportunity to become acquainted with Austrian film in all its diversity, to trace current artistic trends and, not least, to make some (re-)discoveries along the way.

Since 1998, the Diagonale has made the city of Graz the film capital of Austria and established it as a hub of the film industry and its spectators.

Approximately 1,300 accredited industry professionals and 25,000 visitors, including a large number of young filmgoers, gather in the Styrian capital to enjoy the diverse selection of films, the unique festival atmosphere, as well as the talks with distinguished guests and the wide-ranging program features.

The environmental sustainability initiative of the festival, known as Diagonale Goes Green and successfully launched in 2011, aims to offer an ecological contribution so that environmental awareness and cinematic pleasure go hand in hand.

G.S.F.

Aphrodiasikum - superduper fi to hi!

WELLNESS

… by Florentina Holzinger and Vincent Riebeek "A inspirational performance discovering the connection of Body and Spirit by getting directions"  press play while reading: After their physically intense flirt with the canon of body and performance art of the 1970s in  Kein Applaus für Scheiße , and their passionate ode to spirituality in Spirit , the meanwhile internationally well-known duo concludes its first trilogy with the project  Wellness .  Starting points are the need for healing and the realisation of one’s own ultimate aims for well-being.  Holzinger and Riebeek  try to balance a healthy mind with a physical aesthetic inspired by beauty contests and competitions. To this aim they subject wellness treatments and measures to increase well-being, such as military-inspired CrossFit sessions, profound psychotherapy and session of meditating to a performed survey.  For the first time in their collaborative work
